The heritage listed luminaires situated in Bathurst’s central civic and business areas are truly unique and add a distinctive historical character to the town centre as well as Machattie Park. Installed between 1872 to 1924 when electricity replaced gas, they incorporate Art Deco elements and Victorian bases. Considering the significance and age of these luminaires, it was always going to be challenging to find a like for like LED replacement. This is where our GE LED retrofit lamps fit in perfectly. These LED lamps were specifically developed for such applications where it is techno-commercially challenging to replace older heritage/decorative style luminaires with LED luminaires.

The GE LED lamps come with a sophisticated built-in fan technology that pushes heat out of the LEDs to keep them operating at optimum temperatures and extends the life of the lamp. This makes it ideal for installing within enclosed luminaires. The LEDs are available in 3000K (warmer) and 4000K (cooler) colour temperatures. The 3000K LEDs have been used in the Machattie Park lamps while the 4000K LEDs have been used in lamps across the high streets.

These 35W LED lamps consume between 50% to 70% less energy than the traditional lamps that were replaced. The better colour rendering index (CRI) and higher lumen output of the LED lamps also provide improved lighting and visibility to the Council’s town centre. We are proud to be a part of this project, in providing a reliable, cost-effective solution to the Council. We also take pride in the fact that we were able to utilise GE lamp technology within the streetlights on Bathurst’s high streets, which are some of the most iconic streetlights in Australia.
